Since September 1990, the Lexington Community Chorus has included singers learning, enjoying, & performing all types of music for all types of audiences. There are no auditions because the Chorus wants to reach out to everyone. We bring good music to great people. Comming Attractions... Please put on your calendar – We will start our new Fall season on Monday, September 14th, starting at 6:30 pm ET. We are accepting back old members and new members alike in all women singing parts. The location is the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 2185 Garden Springs Road, Lexington, KY. There is plenty of free parking. There is a small fee to help offset expenses. Call Evelyn B. The Lexington Community Chorus was founded by Evelyn B. Seymour in the Spring of 1990, and subsequently incorporated in the State of Kentucky in September 1990. It is a listed, 501(c)3, tax deductible organization with the Internal Revenue Service. Some of the many objectives of the Lexington Community Chorus are as follows: 1. Open to all members of the community from college age and older. No auditions. No discrimination. 2. Tap the pool of singers and instrumentalists in the community who are not performing. 3. A group that not only performs music but is a source of friendships 4. Train singers to use good singing techniques as applied to choral disciplines. 5. Train conductors in choral conducting techniques and disciplines. 6. Bring local composers to the attention of the community. 7. Perform a large variety of music. 8. Provide a forum of recognition for smaller performing groups. 9. Explore new ways of cooperation among other individuals and groups in the Fine Arts community. 10. Encourage individual self-esteem, and provide general music information and knowledge for growth in members of the Chorus. 11. Always: perform programs that are fun, entertaining, and excellent for both the performers and audiences. 12. Retain the unique atmosphere and environment that is the beginning signature of the Lexington Community Chorus: * love and respect for each other - a lack of arrogance and egotism * willingness to work hard * follow through on commitments individually and as a group * nurture individual creativity and initiative * cultivate cooperation not competition within the organization |
