Flatland Consort
The Flatland Consort is the house band of the Central Illinois English Country Dancers. It was founded in 1994 and has had a mix of instruments with a core consisting of fiddles, woodwinds, and keyboard. Depending on the personnel we have had from 3 to 9 musicians playing fiddle, viola d'amore, cello, kit, mandolin, flute, recorders, bassoon, oboe, clarinet, whistle, crumhorn, concertina, melodica, piano accordion, highland pipes, hand percussion, guitar, bass, cornet, and banjo. In addition to playing for monthly dances and balls for CIECD we have played for the Harvest Festival (and a few other events) at Lincoln Log Cabin state historical site, at the governor's mansion in Springfield, Illinois, and for occasional weddings.
