LAS Observatory Rules

Proposed Observatory Rules

1. Members wishing to use the observatory by themselves must complete the training class
2. Members that are not trained must be accompanied by a staff member or member who has completed the training
3. Any club member 21 years or older and in good standing that meets rule 1 may reserve and use the facility
4. All users should sign in and out (Log book) and note the condition of the observatory
5. One weekend night per month the observatory will be open to the public
6. One weekend night per month will be LAS members night
7. Report any needed repairs or maintenance to the observatory director or staff within 48 hours
8. Do not attempt to repair or alter equipment or clean optics
9. Do not make duplicate keys to the building
10. Do not borrow items from the observatory
11. The person opening the observatory is responsible for whatever happens at/to the observatory and equipment for the period of their reservation
12. It is at the discretion of the person who reserved the observatory as to whether to allow others to join in
13. Smoking is not permitted in or near the building
14. Drinking alcohol is not permitted
15. No food or drinks in the building
16. Management of equipment for the observatory will be handled by the board of directors
17. Members wanting equipment configuration changes should present the request to the director who in turn will present the request to the board.
