I couldn't believe the horses let us get this close! The one in front is the stallion; he kept himself between us and the mares at all times. See the little guy in the middle? A young foal, probably 3 months old or so. That's his momma right in front of him.
After the tide went out, the horses went out to where the marsh grass
was exposed. They say the horses will actually wade out into the
water up to their chins to avoid the bugs. We never saw them out
that deep.
