Calvin Cooper

Of Wallingford, Kentucky, immersed himself in woodworking and creating decorative objects after his retirement from the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He finds his medium, wood, in the Kentucky forests and uses the wood's natural shape to crate sculpture with a distinctly personal style. The pieces reveal his tongue-in-cheek humor through the portrayal of unexpected or awkward moments. Cooper's subject matter is varied and includes natural themes, and imaginative creatures. His work is in the Museum at Morehead State University in Kentucky and in many galleries.
