Story:

Slick Willie Clanton was born in a whorehouse. His mother worked there and his father was a soldier who died at Vicksburg. He grew up around hookers, peelers, con artists, gamblers and other low lifes. As a result he's cultivated a genuine love for those type of people.

At the tender age of 15, Willie left home in order to get a job aboard a riverboat as a dealer. Willie has allways had fast hands and learned quickly and well. in fact he was a goddamn artist at dealing and soon became a professional gambler of some small reputation. The fact that he won a lot didn't endear him to many but he tipped like a king even when he lost and was nothing if not charming. Good looking too.

It was his fast hands, wit, charm, good looks, and basic intellect that attracted Alexis Charbonaeu to him. Alexis was something of a wild child and they became partners in crime after a fashion. Soon after they became lovers and soon after that they became sire and childe.

While Willie went into vampirism with his eyes open, it was meeting his fellow clanmates that was the hardest adjustment. He wasn't a posuer and he wasn't an artiste and his sire suffered loss of social status as a result of his unleanrned mistakes of his first nights. This hardened his heart against his own clan and as a result he often goes out of his way to make enemies of them.

"What do I think of the artist's painting? Well....(spits) I think the color scheme is reminiscent of something out of Picasso's blue period. Although i have to say the artist's sense of perspective is a little sketchy and the design of the painting as a whole is busy. frankly...i wouldn't hang it in a garage....What. You thought that just because i was just a dumbass cracker i didn't know nothing at all?"

Willie traveled extensively during the old west period. This is when he met his good friend Jack Butler and with Jack's guitar, any found piano, a deck of cards and their collected armory, they travelled across the country widely. It was at this point in his life that he met Widow McCardle and stayed in her little nebraska town longer than most places. allthough both will deny it to any who bring it up, they are very close freinds..and occasionally more. Widow McCardle's Verbena magick has saved Willie's bacon more times than he cares to count. (as a result of their relationship, neither can be blood bound.) Finally, Willie's feet stopped itching and he found after a long night of cards that he had become the owner of his own riverboat.

Granted, The Delta Queen was haunted and seemed to be a natural magnet for all sorts of supernatural trouble...but it beat working for a living. it also explains why the former owner didn't squeak much when he lost it. It was late one night when Willie was playing some young kid with enough skill to make it interesting, that he got bushwacked. Several shots from behind managed to put him down long enough for his unknown assailant to sink the ship. Willie slipped into torpor for 30 years.

He awoke instinctively when a alligator tried to snack on his foot. Needless to say the gator didn't make it, but Willie did crawl out of the river and began his life over. Making contact with his sire, his friend and his lover, He managed to surpise them all by being alive. They in turn gave him the necessary direction and funding he needed to go to Hollywood. Willie put his skills to good use there making Oaters as a stuntman and extra. (The inability to film during the day kept real stardom out of his reach.)

After a while his feet got itchy and he headed east again to take up housekeeping with Ruth McCardle again, when he ran into a group of Sabbat. They trapped him in a barn and then set it on fire. if it weren't for a ceramic bathtub that was being refitted in the back of the barn,he would have been dead right then. As it was, he slipped into torpor for another 20 years until Ruth found him and revived him. (she would have come sooner but she was trapped in a Paradox realm for much of that time.)

Story Uses:

Pot Stirrer: Standard operating proceedure for Willie upon entering any new city is to go meet the prince immediately and ask the trivial boon of being provided an escort to places in town that he does not know.(never mind that he visited almost every american city at one time or another...things change, and it saves the prince the trouble of assigning someone to spy on him.) After this has happened, he'll look up old friends,(Mostly gangrels) visit a strip club or two,and then try to find a game or two. These activities will unfortunately bring him to the attention of other kindred invariably. Sometimes with unpleasant results. While Willie will never start a fight he won't walk away from one either. If trouble gets too bad he'll just go collect his trunk and leave town before daybreak.

Avenging Angel: He has been known to seek out those who have done harm to friends and give them a bad case of lead poisoning. it should be noted that he his capable of emptying his six shooters faster and with more accuracy than a human with an automatic weapon. (he distrusts them. they jam.) He can also move like the wind, see in the dark, scare the shit out of you, and is a really good shot. This is not to say that Willie is violent or dumb. He knows he's not the fastest gun in the west...(He met him though...lucky he was allready dead.) Willie is also a defender of women whether they be pure or sullied. Especially the sullied, they seem to need it more.

Exasperated Babysitter: A young Verbena student of Ruth, Toreador child of Alexis, or Gangrel childe of Jack's might have Willie temporarily keeping an eye out for them. This is both good and bad. Willie is a genuinely good guy with an interesting mind and a good sense of fun..but it should never be forgotten that he is a vampire and like all vampires he has to strugggle with his darker nature...usually at the worst times. when trouble strikes he could save your bacon or be deep in the grip of Rotshreck...There's no telling.

The King of Cards: Willie rarely plays cards unless he's desparate for money. He's one of the finest card players short of a true mage or the devil himself. With great card finesse before his death he's gained the ability to shuffle way faster than the eye can follow, plus his auspex made it too easy to see who was bluffing. It's kind of sucked the fun out of it for him. allthough he's allways looking for an interesting game. He's had a few against a malkavian or two and a nosferatu card counter in pittsburgh. Any player who can offer him an interesting game will gain a fast friend.

Two Era Character: As you can see, Slick Willie not only is walking around in these modern times but he's also possible as a fixture in a Werewolf: The wyld west game. In fact, if your character is long lived enough you could meet him in both times.
