This walk will be on city sidewalks and paved Greenway
trails. Not all curbs will be cut. This walk takes you to the Historic
Westside of Evansville. Originally platted as the towns of Lamasco in 1837
and Independence in 1860. The walk will take you up to Francis Joseph Reitz
High School where the bend in the Ohio River (pictured above) can be viewed,
then down to the West Franklin Street business district, founded by German
immigrants in the late 1880's.

River Walk - Ohio River
America's Historic Churches - St. Boniface Church established 1881 and
Sacred Heart Church of Jesus established 1885
Directions to Starting Point - Fairfield Inn West.
3400 Weston Rd. Register, then drive to
Casino Aztar Hotel, 412 NW Riverside Drive, where the trail begins. FREE
parking in garage.
Directions to Fairfield Inn West:
From East : Take the Lloyd Expressway (Indiana 66 that changes to
Indiana 62 at US41)west to Red
Bank Rd
turn right(north) and then left on Weston Rd.
The Inn is at the end of the road in front of Lowe's
From West : Take Indiana 62 (Lloyd Expressway locally) to
Red Bank Rd. Turn left (north) and left on Weston Rd.
From North or South: Take US41 to Lloyd Expressway (Indiana 62 West)
and follow above directions.
Maps and driving directions will be provided to the trail head at the start
point.
