Happenings

Our president, Sue Taylor, announced in an email to some of us that she will have to resign her position. Her husband has accepted a new job in Seattle, Washington and she will be moving there as soon as they can wind up their affairs here in Evansville. Sue had been helping as a "president-in-training" fro some time before she actually took over the title.

So, now we are looking for someone to take over as president. Linda Neu, our vice president, is wintering in Florida and will not be back in Evansville until May. Besides needing a new president, we need someone to temporarily store the material that the club has accumulated for use at our walks. Besides the brochures there are coolers, tubs with check in site supplies and a few other items. We should get these items out of Sue's way so she can pack. Any volunteers for either or both of these needs?

RCR 2010 Upcoming Events

Hope you marked your  calendars for  2010! Please note our walks for this year , both as an event and as needing volunteers to help out:
Harmonie - April 10
Pike - June 19
Princeton - Sept. 18
Ferdinand - November 20

We kicked off the Aztar YRE with a group walk on February 20th. We had 11 walkers who had a great time. It looked like we would have to postpone it because of all the left over snow, but it melted down fairly well and we had to detour around a few small piles of slush and snow.
Our next kickoff walk will be March 6 when we will do a group walk of the Henderson YRE. This is a nice walk and if you have not done a walk for a while a good one to start with the season since it is fairly level. We might even get to see some early spring flowers! We will start about 9:00am CST at the corner of N. Green St and Second St. The convenience center at the gas station (Chuckles?) is the starting point. Park behind the the building next to Wendys.

Clifty Falls State Park

On March 27, There will be a walk at Clifty Falls State Park near Madison, IN. This walk is put on by Indiana Volkssport Association. I understand that the park lodge is already booked up for that weekend but if you want to stay overnight, there are motels and Bed & Breakfast in Madison.

The Derby City Walkers (Louisville) are having a YRE kickoff on April 3 at Frankfort, Ky.

You can get details and directions to both of these events at AVA site
