The River City Ramblers welcome you to Harmonie State Park, located on the banks of the Wabash River in Posey County, Indiana’s most southwest corner. Nearby historic New Harmony, Indiana honors two unique communities from the early 1800's established by the Rappites and the Owenites. From mid- April to mid-May the city of New Harmony sponsors the Herb Festival. You are invited to shop for your spring plants. We suggest you begin your tour of New Harmony, at the Atheneum Vsitors Center located at North and Arthur streets.

What is a Volksmarch:
A Volksmarch is literally a “folks walk” or a walk for the people, along a prescribed route with each walker setting their own pace. These walks are open to the public. The purpose of a Volksmarch is to encourage physical fitness, promote fellowship and to enjoy the outdoors. It is fun activity to do with the family, friends or all by yourself. Most volksmarches are 10 km, or 6.2 miles, in length. They are hosted by clubs in more that 40 countries.

Start Time: Any time between 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon local time (CST).
Finish Time: You must complete the course by 4:00 p.m. local time (CST).
Weather: This event will be held rain or shine. Please dress appropriately.

Location: Harmonie State Park, Cherry Hill Shelter, 3451 Harmonie State Park Road (state Road 269), 812-682-4821. After you enter the park follow the Volksmarch signs to the Start/Finish point, at the Cherry Hill shelter. Harmonie State Park is a 3,465-acre park located just off highway 69, 25 miles northwest of Evansville IN and 4 miles south of New Harmony IN. It is a trail lovers paradise! Facilities include: a beautiful Olympic size swimming pool, 200 class A camping sites, youth tent area, housekeeping cabins, boat launch ramp, nature center, and many other features.

Registration & Start Cards: All participants, including infants and children, must check in at the registration table and receive a start card. Your start card must be signed before the walk and returned to the finish table upon completion of the walk. This procedure allows us to keep track of all participants.

Event Award: Each Department of Natural Resources (DNR) property in this series has a special 2 ¼ inch die cast
medal with a DNR property bar attached and to which additional DNR property bars may be added to form a chain.
Completion of the trail and payment of the registration fee is required for the award.

Fees:
Everyone is welcome to participate in this event for free. However, if you desire the award and credit, the fee is $13.00. The property bar and credit is $8.00. The fee for IVV credit only is $3.00. You may walk for free if no award or IVV credit is desired. There will be no refunds. You may Pre-register. For this the fee for the Award and credit is $11.00; for bar only and credit is $6.00. Pre-registration can be mailed to the River City Ramblers, no later than March 26, 2010.
Refreshments:
Water and restrooms will be available at the Start/Finish point and at the checkpoints. You may wish to carry water with you. Trail Description:
The trail will be going through grassy meadows, over rolling hills, across streams, all in a forest setting. It is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. The trail is rated 3 on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the most difficult. The trail will be marked. Pets must be on a leash.
Park Fees:
All participants must pay the current admission to the park when applicable. An annual pass to all DNR properties is available for both in-state and out-of-state visitors.

THE RIVER CITY RAMBLERS Volksmarching club is located in Evansville, Indiana. It is a volunteer non-profit organization. It is a member of the Indiana Volkssport Association and the American Volkssport Association.

Directions: From I 64 take exit 4
(New Harmony, Mt. Vernon, Griffin) HWY 69 South 9 miles to the Harmonie State park sign. Turn right on State Road 269 1 mile to the Harmonie State park entrance.
