Welcome

TThe River City Ramblers welcome you to Ferdinand Indiana and the Christkindlmarkt. Located in Dubois County the town was established in 1840. The town was named for Emperor Ferdinand of Austria. On Aug. 20 1867, three Benedictine Sisters arrived from Covington KY to become teachers in the school founded by Rev. Chrysostom Foffa, OSB. The Monastery Immaculate Conception was begun. The sisters of St. Benedict live the 1500-year-old monastic tradition of the rule of St. Benedict, a special way of living in a religious community.
