Wilbur F.{1} Mobley was born on March 24, 1838 in Elkton, Kentucky, the son of John Wesley and Sarah Artemisia 'Artie' (Wilkins) Mobley. He was a farmer in Todd County, Kentucky. He married Martha 'Gille' Edwards (born November 14, 1845 in Elkton, Kentucky) the daughter of Edward H. and Martha Jane (Graham) Edwards, also of Elkton. He died in May 1911 [1], and she died April 1, 1939 at her apartment in the home of Miss Sallie Harrison on East Main Street in Elkton from infirmities of age, she being 93.
Their children were as follows:
1. Martha Artemisia 'Artie' Mobley, born November 15, 1865; died January 22, 1940; married James Thomas Crouch2. Joseph Edward Mobley, born January 9, 1870; died January 22, 1966 age 92. Retired farmer and financier. Lived the last 27 years of his life at the Jefferson Davis Hotel, Elkton, Kentucky. He died in his sleep while sitting in a chair in the Hotel lobby. Buried in the Glenwood Cemetery, Elkton, Kentucky.
3. Ella Mobley, born January 5, 1872; died March 6, 1946. Never married.
4. Omar Wilbur Mobley, born December 23, 1879. Lived in Pembroke, Todd County, Kentucky. Married 1st, Lamb; 2nd Louella Stokes
5. Charles Mobley, born July 14, 1881; died January 22, 1962 age 84 at his residence in the Becker Community of Monroe County. In 1908 he moved to Aberdeen, Mississippi, and in 1910 he married Gertrude Denley in Calhoun County. Moved to Monroe County in 1933 where he farmed. See list of children and grandchildren of Charles.
6. Henry Mobley, born October 14, 1886; died October 5, 1966. Lived in Arkansas. Did not marry.
7. Nim Mobley, born July 20, 1888; died October 5, 1956. Lived in the Pembrooke Community, Todd County, Kentucky. Married Lucille Standard.
[1] The obituary for Wilbur F. Mobley's son Charles Mobley states that his father's name was Wilbur Fritz Mobley. Additionally one of Charles Mobley's son's middle name was Fred. However it is believed that Wilbur was named for Wilbur Fisk, a leader in the Methodist church to which Wilbur's parents belonged. This leads to the supposition that Charles Mobley's son or daughter confused 'Fisk' with 'Fritz'.

Elkton - April 4, 1939. Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Gillie Edwards Mobley, 93, were held Sudnay afternoon at the home of her granddaughter , Mrs. Percy Shelton and Mr. Shelton. She died Saturday at the home on East Main Street from complications.The Rev. O. T. Arnett, pastor of the Presbyterian Church where she was a member, conducted the last rites.
Mrs. Mobley was the wife of the late W. F. Mobley, who died 28 years ago. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was held in the highest esteem by her family and many friends.
She leaves surviving two daughters, Mrs. J.T. Crouch, of near Elkton; Miss Ella Mobley, who resided with her mother; five sons, J.E. Mobley, Elkton; O.W. Mobley, near Elkton; Mim Mobley, Trenton; Charles Mobley, Mississippi; Henry Mobley, Arkanasas, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
