Edward Radford Crouch 4 (William 3, John 2, Richard 1) was born January 23, 1791 in Hanover County, VA., and died June 4, 1854 in Shelby County, Tn.. He married (1) Martha Wales Smith (Smigh) January 16, 1817[2] in Goochland County, VA.. She was born January 19, 1801 in Goochland County, VA. the daughter of Anthony Trabue Smith and Lucy Johnson.. Martha Wales Smith died September 9, 1839 in Shelby County, Tn.. He married (2) Rachel Miller born about 1810 on August 15, 1844 in Tipton County, Tn..[3]

[According to Mrs. L.M. Crouch Jr.: Edward Crouch is said to have m (2) Rachel Nulles, but she thinks he m (2) Rachel Miller [3] & that his name was in fact Edward Radford Crouch].

1. James Edward Crouch 5 born about November 1817 Goochland County, Va. Lived for a time in Limestone County, Alabama. Married February 24, 1846 Emily Ann Stokes, Tipton County, Tennessee. [1]

2. William Anthony Crouch 5, born 1818 Goochland County, Va. Lived in Limestone County, Alabama before moving to Tipton County, Tn. Married Catherine Murphy Stokes born about 1820 on April 15, 1845 Tipton County, Tennessee. [1]

3. Martha Elizabeth Crouch 5 born July 7, 1824, Richmond VA; died January 12, 1898, Cordova, Shelby Co TN; married March 10, 1842, John Thadeus Ellis, Shelby County, Tn.;. John Thadeus Ellis born June 24, 1818, Goochland Co VA; died February 14, 1860, Cordova, Shelby Co. TN; Buried New Hope (Sanga) Baptist Church Cemetary, Shelby Co., TN [1]

4. Sarah E. Crouch 5 born about 1826 in Limestone County, Alabama. Married George W. Pennel on January 14, 1846 in Tipton County, Tn. [1]

5. John Hardin Crouch 5 born 1828 Limestone County, Alabama. Lt. C.S.A. prisoner at Johnson's Island, Ohio. Married 1st) Ann Elizabeth Hurt on March 8, 1853 in Tipton County, Tennessee. 2nd) Virginia T. Card (widow - nee Wright) on April 5, 1875 in Tipton County, Tennessee. He died in 1881 in Tipton County, Tennessee. [1] Served in the CSA as a lieutenant & held prisoner at Johnson's Island, Ohio,

6. Lucy Crouch 5, born 1830 Limestone County, Alabama. [1]

7. Ann Crouch 5 born 1832 Limestone County, Alabama[1]

8. Melvina Crouch 5 born about 1834 Limestone County, Alabama. [1]

9. Mary R. Crouch 5 born 1837 Tennessee. Married June 12, 1853 Jerome Dorsey, Tipton County, Tennessee. [1]

Children of Edward Radford Crouch and Rachel Miller (note that E.R. Crouch's first wife died September 9, 1839 in Shelby County, Tn . and the marrage to his second wife did not occur until August 15,1844 [3])

"Gwathmeys VA in Rev." A record of his death is contained in a register of the Huguenot Church of Manakin Town, King William Parish. His Will was presented in court in Henrico Co. VA on May 4, 1724, by Magdalene Trabue, his executrix. The Will and Will book in which it was recorded have been lost.
