James H. JENKINS will written: 30 May 1848 and probated: August Term 1848. Children: Missouri and Edward Alexander Jenkins. The will mentions owning land in Rush Co IN, 5 miles north of Russville, one mile north of the state road leading from Rushville to Indianapolis, north of Mud Creek. Also land in Barren Co.. Slaves: Yes, not named. Wife owned property before their marriage. Executors to care for the two oldest children named above, if they can't, place them in good homes. Son: Charles Crouch - to remain with mother - later shown as Charles C Junkin. Cited: Alexander McHatton Executor: Friend Robert B Hall. [8] 1850 Laws of Kentucky Chapter 250 Page 278-279: An act to incorporate the 'Independent Order of Odd Fellows, (Lodge No. 65,) of Glasgow, Kentucky, and for other purposes. Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That Franklin Gorin, John w. Ritter, Charles R. Crouch, John G. Rogers, and Jas. L. Crutcher, and their associates and regular successors, be and are hereby created a body politic and corporate, by the name and style of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of the town of Glasgow, (Lodge No. 65,) and by that name are hereby vested with full power and authority to acquire, hold, use, and enjoy, real and personal estate to the amount of twelve thousand dollars, and to sell and convey or otherwise dispose of the same, under such by-laws, rules, and regulations, as may by them be provided or adopted: Provided, that such by-laws, rules and regulations be not contrary to the constitution or laws of this State, or of the United States; and said corporation, by th ename aforesaid, shall be competent to contract and be contracted with, to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered, defend and be defended, in all courts and places whatsoever; and may have and use a common seal, and to change and alter the same at pleasure; Provided further, that the powers hereby granted shall not be used in banking, insuring property or life, or doing any such thing not expressly granted by this act. Sec. 2. The right of any future Legislature to alter or amend this charter is hereby reserved.
