General Notes:
Per Oliver's 1880 bio, he purchased his first farm in 1852 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. He sold after eight years and purchased a farm in Montgomery County, OH which he owned until after the close of the Civil War Oliver served the Union Army, Company G, 147th Ohio Infantry with rank of corporal. He served at Fort Marcy at Washington, DC. Oliver contracted some sort of disease during the war and ultimately lost his right limb (?). He received a pension for his injury.
Oliver also engaged in business as a contractor and builder and represented the Dayton Machine Company , traveling the road for six years selling agricultural implements throughout sixteen states.
Ultimately he moved to Cardingron, Morrow County, OH where he served three years as constable and twelve years as JP.
Oliver married Lucretia Kerr in 1845 in Miami Co., OH.46 (Lucretia Kerr was born on 2 Jun 1828 in Miami Co., OH and died on 16 Mar 1889 in Morrow County, OH.)
