General Notes:
1850 US Census: Nathan is apparently living with brother Milton Shaw (age 22) and Milton's wife Eliza (age 18). I'm guessing that Elsey Campbell (47) is Milton's mother-in-law and that her married name is Campbell. Other Shaw's living w/Milton at the time were Lewis (17), Eliza J. (13) -- both possibly Milton's siblings. Three younger children, all Campbell's and probably Elsey's, are Martha Ann (9), Sarah J. (7), and Benjamin (5).
By 1860 the US Census shows Nathan (age 25) living adjacent to his brother Milton in Nobel Township., La Porte, IN (pg. 146) with wife Martha (nee Snavely, age 23) and daughter Jessie age 3. He's working as a farmer as is his brother Milton.
1870 finds Nathan age 36, wife Margaret 33 with Jessie age 12, Orpheus C. age 7, and Charles C. age 5 living in Starke Co., IN., Washington Twp., pg 1
Assume Nathan passed prior to 1880 since he doesn't show up in 1880 census and Margaret is apparent head of household back in La Porte Co.
Nathan married Margaret Y. Snavley, daughter of William J. Snavley and Margaret "Peggy" Eahart, on 27 Mar 1856 in La Porte Co., IN.507 (Margaret Y. Snavley was born about 1837 in Indiana and died after 1910 in Spokane, Washington.)
