John N. Hall, was born near Potsdam, Ohio, December 5, 1834, and lived in that vicinity nearly all his life. He was married to Rebecca Arnett, June 16, 1855, from which union there were eight children, four of whom are yet living, namely, Mrs. Mary Greer of Bradford, Perry Hall of Potsdam, Thorton and William Hall of West Milton.
Since the death of his wife in 1912, the father has made his home with the son, William, receiving from the family every kindness and care. He was a veteran of the Civil War, being a member of Co. G, 193rd, O. V. I. and served about nine months to the close of the war. About thirty years ago he became a member of the Mennonite church and lived in the faith of its teachings.
He was quiet and unobstrusive in his life, believing in justice and righteousness and was ever appreciative of the kindly ministrations of children and friends. He died February 28, 1918, at the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 23 days.
The funeral services were held in the Mennonite church at Potsdam conducted by Rev. S. A. Blessing and Rev. Lambert. Interment was made in Potsdam cemetery.
John married Rebecca A. Arnett, daughter of David P. Arnett and Magdalena Knee, on 15 Jun 1855 in Darke Co., OH 433,434.,435 (Rebecca A. Arnett was born about 1836 and died in 1912 in Potsdam, OH.)
