General Notes:
Samuel was apprenticed to William Holsinger, at age 19, to learn carpentry and cabinet making. Eventually he purchased an undertaking business from Mr. Stutzman and, later, took his brother Fred as a partner. The brothers also built houses and were very successful in that endeavor.
Samuel was deacon in the Progressive Dunkard (Brethren) church. He was a Republican and retired in Covington, Ohio.
Samuel married Susannah Freshower, daughter of George Freshower and Nancy Burkhart.
