Fred worked as a cabinet maker and undertaker. He was a Republican and in 1870 was elected to the office of Township Treasurer. An office in which he served 10 years. He also served as School Director and was a member of Town Council and the Board of Education.
Fred's bio states that an unnamed son, born to first wife, died in infancy. Frederick and his wives were Quakers.
