About The Bluegrass Printmakers' Co-op

The mission of the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative is to be a thriving studio in the Lexington area where printmakers may work; create a dialogue about prints and art; expose and educate the community about prints and the printmaking process through classes, demonstrations, and workshops; and give printmakers an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.

The Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative, located in the lower level of LexArts, has a press that accommodates work up to 22 x 30 inches. The studio is set up for those who want to create woodcuts, linoleum prints, collagraphs and monoprints and etchings.

Supplies

The studio provides the basics:
  • a press with blankets
  • a drying rack
  • flat files for storage

Artists are responsible for all other supplies:

  • inks
  • paper
  • paper towels
  • newsprint, etc.

We require that artists use non-toxic solvents for clean up, such as vegetable oil and dish detergent to clean up oil-based ink and to degrease surfaces.

Working in an atmosphere of mutual respect, members may store materials at the studio with the expectation that they will not be disturbed.
