"Good Morning - I bring greetings and condolences
to each of the family
members and all those gathered here today from Governor Mitch Daniels
and Indiana Department of Homeland Security Executive Director Joe
Wainscott. Both regret that previous commitments prevent them from
personally attending today's memorial service.
All firefighters who serve honorably are heroes and the greatest
firefighter heroes are those who die in the line of duty. But there is
another hero and that is the family that survives a fallen firefighter.
They serve their communities and State at the highest level possible.
And they deserve the highest levels of respect and honor that we can
offer. Today we are here to respect and honor the memory of each
firefighter name we will place in an appropriate place here at the
Indiana Fire and Law Enforcement memorial. It is more though than just
placing a name on a piece of granite. Their name on this memorial
indicates the sacrifice they made and the sacrifice those who knew and
loved each of them continue to make in their memory.
This is where you will find those great firefighter heroes who died in
the line of duty.
They are each listed here with great honor. Please visit here often to
keep the memory of the lives these brave firefighters lived.
Each of these firefighters we honor today when the call was received
asking if they wanted to help, they said yes and left immediately.
There was no hesitation, for you see, Heroes do not hesitate when called.
They are unselfish in that way.
Each of these firefighters we honor today were part of a team of heroes
who were fighting to save a life and property of their Hoosier friends
and neighbor.
We thank them, remember them, and honor them for their courage,
strength, and commitment.
These outstanding heroes pledged to and serve us; and they did so with
great courage.
Indiana is very proud of these heroes.
We miss them.
We love them.
And we will never forget them.
They are heroes of the highest order.
My Wish...performed by Rascal Flatts
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow and each road leads
you where you want to go.
If you are faced with a choice and you have to choose.
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
If one door opens to another door closed I hope you keep on walking
until you find a window.
If it's cold outside I want you to show the world the warmth of your
smile.
More than anything I wish for you that your life becomes all that you
want it to be.
Your dreams stay big and your worries stay small.
You never need to carry more than you can hold.
When you get about to where you are going to I hope you know those who
love you want the same thing for you.
I hope you never look back but you never forget all the ones that loved
you in the place you left.
I hope you always forgive and you never regret.
You help somebody every chance you get. You find god's grace in every
mistake and always give more than you take.
My wish for you is that this life becomes all that you want it to be.
These firefighter are among the greatest heroes in the history of
America.
God bless every one of them.
AAnd God bless the State of Indiana."
