Fire leaves family of 8 homeless

Story from http://therepublic.com The online version of Columbus Indiana The Republic
Staff Reports

Michelle Dulong walked down the steps of her burnt-out home carrying an armload of Christmas presents. They were all that survived a devastating fire early Tuesday at 724 Werner Ave."We've lost everything," she said.
Behind her stood the shell of a house her parents rented, the home they shared with Michelle and her five children. Dulong also said her brother was sleeping there that night.
Flames shot 20 feet high and lit up the night sky before a neighbor woke up the Dulongs at about 1:30 a.m. Dulong had been home for about an hour, she said, and had fallen asleep when she heard pounding on the door.
"I heard people screaming and yelling, 'Get 'em out, get 'em out,'" Dulong said.
