2008 Junior Fire Warden Picnic (63 images)
On May 7th, German Fire Department held a picnic at
Headquarters for the Junior Fire Wardens from our three schools. Engine 9 did
the pickup of the students from St. Joseph and CynthiaHeights Schools and
took them to Headquarters. Engine 8 did the same with the students from
Resurrection School. There the daytime crew, Captain Magary and Firefighter
Darrell Eastham, along with Lt. Tamara Esche and Chief Buckman were waiting to
greet them. The "taxi drivers" Jim Geiser, Kevin Jones and Seth Tenney then
helped put them through some firefighter skills. On group used a fire hose to
try to hit a target with a stream while the other group carried a dummie up a
stairs and then either came down a ladder or did their verson of rappelling from
the window to the ground. They were all then given a tour of the tools on the
rescue. It ended with a picnic lunch that Seth made while fighting the smoke
from the grill. Lisa Eickoff had also did the planning and cooking for the rest
of the meal. They all returned to school on the engines. No wonder we never have
trouble recruiting new wardens each year. They do a terrific job and deserve a
"WELL DONE!"
