Professional Development Plan
I believe that being a teacher requires constant change and development. In order to be the best teacher possible, we must have a desire to continue our growth both personally and professionally. Teachers should be constantly improving their educational skills.
I am certified to teach social studies and language arts at the middle level. Yet I enjoy all subjects and would like to take the required classes to become endorsed in middle school mathematics as well.
In addition, I took Spanish in high school and I am very interested in the language. I would love to become more fluent in Spanish to be able to reach and communicate more effectively to students who are bilingual. Therefore, I would like to expand my knowledge in the Spanish language by taking college courses that will help me develop my Spanish speaking skills.
Eventually, I would like to go back to school and obtain my masters degree. Nevertheless, my first desire is to get my career started before I begin the graduate program. I have not decided what to pursue in graduate school yet, but I have an interest in studying technology in education and education of gifted children. Ultimately I plan on exploring graduate school after I have had the experience of teaching professionally for a few years.
In my personal life, I am married and hope to have children in the near future. I am a very family oriented person and am looking forward to starting my own family.
I love music and have an interest in playing musical instruments. I have started learning to play the guitar and I would like to take lessons to improve my guitar playing skills. Similarly, I have always had a desire to play the piano and I plan on learning how to play the piano when I master the guitar.
Additionally, I have a desire to stay fit and healthy. I plan on maintaining a healthy life style through working out and being active. My goal is to workout twice a week. I would also like to join a recreational sports league that is available year round.
All in all, I am aware that teaching requires steady change and development. For that reason, I plan to constantly continue my research in education and learn new methods of teaching. I would like to improve my skills as an educator and expand my knowledge of the world around me to enhance and enrich my life as well as the lives of the students I will be teaching.
