"Gus" |
|
Well it is official now. Deb West has named her boy, Happy
Tails Bogey's Last Boy, and will be called Gus, an acronym for
(go-u-sonofagun). Isn't that cute? This makes two pups
who are named after their mom and/or dad, talk about giving them
the big head!!! What a compliment this is! Deb also
sent me pics of her place complete with park like acreage and a
training pond to die for!! Maybe I will visit Gus often,
hehe. Better yet, Gus can come back to Kentucky, and I will
go live with Deb. Gee what a set-up. All my happy
tails labbies are just so lucky to have such wonderful homes.

Deb West and Gus with
their first puppy ribbon before 12 wks!! It is hard to
tell who is more proud, Deb or Gus????

"Kirby" |

"Kirby" |
|
Mike and Judy Hayes have sent updates on their boy, Kirby. At 12 weeks he
weighs in at about 21 lbs. He is sitting, coming on
whistle, and stays pretty good Mike says. He stays pretty
busy (Kirby that is) and gets worked twice a day!! They
are going to work on down soon. Mike says he is a natural
retriever and they could not be more pleased with their new son.
When they send updates, they send them as if Kirby is writing to
me, grandma. It is just too cute, but then so is Kirby.
Happy Tails labbies stay just one big family, and I love it!!!!

Little
"Brick" |
|
Tom and Jill Ann sent these pictures of little
"Brick", who is not so little at 34 lbs.!! He
was the biggest pup and remains so. He too is sitting,
coming to whistle, and swimming. Brick is quite the
traveler and Tom says he loves it. Brick thinks himself
quite the man and lets everyone and every lab he meets think so.
He has also been exposed to wide variety of animals--even
bears. They are getting ready to go to Canada to hunt and
train. Maybe Tom and Jill Ann would like to adopt me and
my labbies. We promise to be good and have happy tails!!!

loves to be a lab!!!
Congratulations to Vike and Marcus for obtaining puppy pics.
(If you have ever tried to photograph a pup, you know what I'm talking about).

"Roho" |
I am a Happy Tails Kennel
pooch. My name is Roho, "Hard Roe to Hoe."
Roho is owned by Chet and Sandra Beaty. Well,
actually more Sandra than Chet, if you can believe "mom".
He is from a litter of Bogey x FCAFC Storm’s Riptide Star,
"Rascal". Sandra and Chet drove all the way from
Spring,Texas, to see this litter. Chet came first and then
Sandra came to actually pick the pup. About five hours later, she
left with the right pup, Roho. Despite all kinds of trouble getting
him home, "mom" really loves her boy. He has been
professionally trained and has received his HRCH (with mom handling)
and only needs a couple more passes for his MH. Ever since Roho went
to Texas to live, mom and dad have given regular updates via phone
and pictures. Just another Happy Tailsstory!!!!
(Look for pics of Roho elsewhere in our site)

"Xena" |
"Xena
Princess Warrior" is a four-month old chocolate female. She
owns Jeff Carlson, his wife, and their three girls who named
Xena. Xena
is out of "Bogey" and "Brick" and Jeff reports
at four months she is sitting on whistle and is very birdy.
Good job Jeff and Xena.
|
Jeff
says Xena doesn't go hunting yet, of course, but she does
get to retrieve the birds that Tazz brings her home.
Looks to me that she really enjoys Tazz coming home.
Gee Jeff must be a pretty good shot too. Now the
question, can he call??? |

"Caesar" |
I am also a Happy Tails Kennel pooch. My name is
Caesar.
Caesar is owned by Craig Jenkins of the Kentucky Department of Vehicle
Enforcement. Caesar was bought by Craig after he was socialized by us and he began his
training to become a K-9 dog unit member. Craig and the department were so impressed with
Caesar they called to see if we had anymore like him. We wish!!!! But we will have again
because we like to keep those happy tails......rollin rollin
rollin.....keep those doggies rollin.....

"Raven
and Joe" |
| This is Joe Rogowski and
"Raven". I tried to convince him to name her Raven Maniac but he didn't. Joe is
very pleased with Raven. They live in Detroit Michigan. We personally delivered Raven to
Joe at his new house. It was too hot to ship. Raven is a Patti and Teeter pup. We are
expecting big things and an invitation to duck hunt in Michigan. |

"Clyde, Elvis and Joe" |
| Pictured here is one of my
first clients. This is Joe Heffley with Clyde (chocolate) and Elvis (black). Joe and his
wife Susie bought Clyde from me several years ago as a pet quality lab. They did not
compete in hunt tests but just wanted a chocolate buddy that Joe could take hunting. Well
the next thing you know we had ole Joe hooked. Today Clyde has his HRCH
title and is on his way to receiving his MH. Elvis was bought later from Hunters Marsh and
is being trained by Kim and Bill Moses. Elvis is one of those labs you love to watch run
BUT would make you a nervous wreck on the line. However both dogs have an excellent home
and very happy tails. They also have chocolate girl out of Clyde named Sadie. She is a
beautiful blocky lab that definitely loves to be loved.
Joe has gotten so good at this dog training stuff that now he has even started his own
force-fetch program. Joe just seems to have that "dog sense" about him. He knows
when to apply pressure and when to let up. (Our Luci told us that he is actually a push-over if you rolled your eyes and licked
his face). We can highly recommend Joe and even Hunters Marsh uses Joe (well his
force-fetch expertise anyway).

"Craig and Action Jackson" |
Hunter's
Marsh Action Jackson owns Craig Wilson of Lexington Kentucky.
Seen here you can see that Jackson has found the perfect hunting
buddy. (although I've heard he actually thinks that Craig
could practice shooting skills). Craig is very pleased with
Jacks as we are too. He is a fine looking boy. He is a
natural retriever and water-dog. Craig reported the 20 degree
temperature did not slow Jacks down a bit!!!!
Jackson is a Patti x TJ breeding and a littermate to our Luci. Craig also
reports that Jackson is a good house dog as well and a great companion.
| Jackson had a very
successful hunt. But a fellow get tired when his job is
done. Jackson is saying, "Yeah Dad, I'm ready to go
again, but could I have just a little nap first?" |

"Patti" |
HRCH
St. Patrick's Wild Child, CD, MH is now owned by Tom and Meg
Butcher of Michigan. Melinda owned Patti the first four
years of her life. She is an excellent bitch with
good attitude, temperament, and confirmation. Melinda did
the basic obedience and socialization with Patti and Hunters Marsh
did the hunt test training and campaigning. Patti was bred
twice and Melinda and Russ have a pup out of each litter,
Luci and Ozzy. She earned both her AKC and UKC top titles by
the time she was 31/2 along with a CD obedience title. Patti is a
natural retriever and water dog. Other competitors would
comment on how "fast" Patti was and how she runs blinds
just like marks. (Of course this should be credited to good
training!!) In the four years Melinda owned Patti she was a
delight to run and watch run. She accompanied Melinda to
school and was an excellent house dog and companion. But it
was time for Patti to do what she was bred to do RETRIEVE BIRDS --
HUNT!!!! Since Melinda judges and follows the hunt test
curcuit, there is often not enough time to hunt. So Kim
Moses of Hunters Marsh helped Melinda find the perfect home for
Patti. That turned out to be with Tom and Meg Butcher.
Now she gets to hunt and be a couch potato. She earned it.
BTW Tom said that it is hard to believe but Patti still had to be
taught to hunt somewhat. Just goes to show that a good hunt
test dog is not necessarily the best dog to hunt with and vice
versa. Tom says she learned fast and is a joy in the field
now.

"Roho" |
| HRCH
Hard Road to Hoe, "Roho" owns Chet and
Sandra Beaty of Spring Texas. "Roho"
is currently working on his master title with mom.
Mom is also the one who handles Roho.
Congratulations to Mom and Roho. As these
pictures show, Roho is also an astute hunter, this
he does with dad, Chet. He is a good-looking
lab and is a Bogey x Rascal breeding. Roho
is four years young and ready to go.
