You were much more to me than a faithful companion or friend.  You were my miracle and I could not begin to count the times you worked your magic.  It was amazing how just a look into your eyes could put the worse day right back into perspective.  And the rubbing of your soft ears could calm even my most frantic moods.  Your head resting on my knees while you looked up at me, could erase the foulest mood.  I learned so much more from you than any lesson I ever taught.  The most important being that sharing love with someone you really love means that you never really leave them.  The memories are forever and all we need do is call them out of our heart and share them.  Everyone that you met fell under your spell and a kinder, gentler, soul there will never be again.  And that is as it should be.  So I don't really have to say good-bye, but share your memory with all those you touched.  But I do need to say, thank-you.
