The days of Conrail in Louisville were drawing to a close when this shot was taken at Clagg tower in Louisville KY. This train is
returning from dropping off and picking up cars from the NS, CSX and P&L and is only about 75 yards from the Lift span over the Portland canal. This the navigation canal to the McAlpine Alpine Locks on the Ohio River at Louisville. The Lift span and one turnout to an industrial siding is controlled by the tower at Clagg. Soon to be the last operating tower in KY.
Above at the turnout you can see the Conrail had a derailment of a loaded grain car and spilled ton's of corn. For months afterwards the Pigeons were too thick to take pictures here. This is at 15th. and Northwestern pkwy.
