There are souls born into the world that have an innate connection to the magical energies that permeate Oerth. Some claim they are the honored descendants of ancient dragons, others claim a link to the higher or lower realms of the multiverse. Stories abound of how a young peasant, faced with immanent feels a power well up from deep within themselves, forcing them to lash out at their aggressor, more often than not to the disadvantage of the aggressor. While the number of these mystical folk are at first limited in the stories told by the old halfling, their numbers kept growing throughout all the tales. Especially at the end, when the few that remained had crossed paths one last time to face off against the First Tyrant. Such a dark and bloody day has seldom been seen across the Flanaess. But you must remember, these are tales of myth and legend. Only the grandest of endings would have done.
Many slight variations would eventually form into the blood of the mystically touched sorcerer. All are familiar with the Dragon Disciple and to a lesser degree the Infernal Champion. Souls whose power, through advanced training and focus raised their blood-tainted abilities to levels few others could even dream of achieving. Some of the most famous of these souls are the League of Silver found in the distant north, fighting their own private war against the Old One, though such battles are far too costly for the League. Even the court of Zeif has added a small selection of elemental linked-sorcerers to the courtly intrigues, if only to keep the companions of the djinn in line. Beyond these highly driven specialists and blood-gifted elites can be found others whose talents are easier to focus than a dragon disciples but still require more effort than the simple gifting of blood many have found.
More than a few armies added the fierce battle sorcerers to their ranks. And of course you cannot forget the subtle skill of the Clandestine Sorcerer, whose wit is matched only by their arcane prowess. What follows is a brief summary of these last two styles of arcane caster. They are individuals who have melded a bit of other training into their magical regiment, shifting their focus somewhat from the somewhat more common sorcerer found prowling the roads of the Flanaess.

All sorcerers receive the Eschew Materials feat free at first level. Additionally they can forgo the use of expensive material components by instead sacrificing a bit of themselves in the process (this can only be done when casting spells from memory). For 5gp an item would cost, the sorcerer loses 1xp. For example, Divarno of Hardby needs to quickly identify a newly found wand. Having learned the identify spell in his youth he quickly sets about casting it. The spell requires him to sacrifice 20xp because he has no 100gp pearls handy (100/5 = 20).
Sorcerers also gain 1 bonus metamagic feat at levels 6, 12 and 18.
The only other change
being provided to them are 2 bonus class skills - Survival (wis) and Diplomacy
(cha). This represents the more travelled and worldly nature of sorcerers.

The battle sorcerer is a master arcanist who chose to focus on the more martial applications of his mystical craft. Born on the fields of battle all across the Flanaess, these rare casters are highly sought after by generals, warlords and freedom fighters. The ability to withstand the rigors of close combat while still dealing out the large scale amount of damage that only a true master arcanist is capable of achieving is a rare and wondrous thing.

Not all sorcerers find the life of the arcane caster an easy one. Some have difficulty finding their way into the wilds of the world where there are fewer who fear the magic that flows through their veins. These poor unfortunates instead focus on the more urban environs. Developing the skills and talent needed to survive the wilds of the big city. As time passes, these are the individuals who develop the art of the clandestine sorcerer, combining their ability to slink about in the shadows of civilization with their magical aptitude.

.....

Dame Redmane had carefully rolled up her parchment map of the territory and slid it back into its bone case and sealed the hard tube's top against the elements. All her officers had gone back to their scattered campsites to rouse the troops. It takes time to ready an army, even one as well trained as hers. Feeling the tendrils of exhaustion attempting to reach into her, the commander stood up quickly, stretching as best she could in the breastplate that served as a second skin.
