Selfish

by James A. Gardner

.
Mike works at the museum, and
advocates AIDS victims commit suicide
for the good of the race,
I say, sounds suspiciously like Hollywood
portrayals of homosexuals, they
always die in the end.
.
"They are merely a vortex for disease
and should die before they commit murder."
.
I assign to him the strange rationalism
of those who felt Kant's influence without
ever knowing his twist.
.
"To not die is selfish."
.
I say, this is not bubonic plague.
You would be more likely to transmit
the virus during interment of the body
as believing courage is to live, to will
life and survive, trust yourself not to
"commit murder."
.
The human race is no place for a man.
.
Next time Mike and I debate I get to be Stalin.
