Support for Our Existence

by James A. Gardner

.
Rojer was the fellow
in the black sports car
 at Hogan's Fountain
.
I assisted him by saying
--I met another in love with him
(while his jealous friend looked on)
.
He asked if I could repeat the thing
--in front of the young man
(who had taken him for granted)
.
"I'll owe you one" he promised
 --as I began my speech
(he got just the result he wanted)
.
It was a good feeling
--as in The Catholic Digest
(which pays $50 for anecdotes illustrating
"the instinctive nature of human kindness")
.
