The Old Box

"the common body is man" --WCW
.
.
Today is a problem *in* physics
a new board to leap, dance,
chop, grind, and strike,
     you can
    leave out "upward and onward"
.
    just
 open and keep it
.
    CON necked
.
the old box is a sonnet, a sestina,
      that equals poetry?
 every sonnet says this
            "i am a sonnet"
.
"an old box filled with this
                     or that"
.
the old masters broke it
        before you knew it
   art is the _thing_
        you have to unlearn
.
   a sonnet is a mountain
        in scale
      you hearsay a vista
that is not yours to keep
.
         i do not defend --
        a mountain? is.
        why would you?
        if i chose to say
          "a-b-b-c-c-a"
   i would be a poet?
 who writes sonnets? sestinas?
     a flower that barks?
