1 lb lean ground beef
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, water, egg, salt, and pepper. Shape into four patties. Place in a 1-1/2 quart oblong baking dish. Set aside. In a medium skillet, heat Italian dressing. Saute onions and mushrooms in dressing over medium heat for 5 minutes, until tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in tomato sauce and basil. Spoon tomato mixture over patties. Bake 30 minutes. Per serving: 467 calories, 32 g fat, 138 mg cholesterol, 19 g carbohydrates, 2 g fiber, 25 g protein, 1021 mg sodium. Breaded and Broiled Sicilian Steak Serves 4.
Marinade:
Blend oil, vinegar, basil, garlic, salt, and pepper together. Place steaks in marinade and marinate for 2 hours or overnight, turning occasionally. Preheat broiler. Combine breading ingredients. dip steaks in breading, coating both sides will. Place on an oiled broiler pan 3 inches from flame. Broil to desired rareness and serve immediately on warm plates. |
