Humans
first sent colonies out from the core worlds several millenia ago. Their first
encounters were with other races of a very similar physiology. Corellians,
Alderaanian, Coruscan, all virtually identical. Within a few centuries only
national pride divided the attitudes of these races. As time past more races
were such as the Lyseerans. People that were the same if not for one unusual
trait that isn't even physically evident. Still the core worlds expanded.
Even now, with all the amazing array
of species discovered, those who are almost identical to humans are by far
the most common. The blue skinned Za'ul, the soft scaled Naka, and the many
other types are all still basically human-like. Often blood and organs can
be transferred from race to race with only a small amount of alteration required
by the doctor to help avoid rejection.
Bith geneticists have often commented on the amazing expansion of this genetic type. The adaptability of it, the fact that colonies long lost to their homeworlds are rediscovered that not only survived but managed to strongly adapt to their new environment taking on some unusual trait to help the species survive in places that it was never meant to. There are literally thousands of human and human-variant species that have been found and catalogued.
The races listed below are just a few of these species so that the curious
might have some idea of what can be found living within and beyond the
bounds of the Galactic Republic. |

Over
two millenia ago the Lyseeran homeworld erupted into a bloody planetary
war. Different factions struggled for control of its dwindling resources
while trying to also dominate the colonies that had been founded throughout
the rest of their system. The war dragged on for more than a decade
before it became clear which side was going to win. The losing factions,
refusing to accept defeat attacked one last time. This time though,
it was with an arsenal of nuclear weapons whose power was beyond anything
that had been previously known. In less than an hour the planet was
no more, the colonies were on their own. As time past, the colonies expanded and developed until they finally discovered the secret of hyperdrive travel. Expanding out across the galaxy it was only a matter of time before they found others who still had worlds of their own. Pleased to find they weren't alone and that there were easily habitable worlds the Lyseerans made plans to found a new home for themselves. Exposure to other races though began to dwindle their own unique identity and weaken the memories of their glorious, and now lost, home. Fearing the loss of their racial identity, the top medical minds of the colonies worked together to genetically alter the memory aptitude of their entire race. |
Racial
Traits: Perfect Recall: Lyseerans can attempt to recall any single fact or event they have been exposed to in the last month by making an Easy Knowledge or Perception roll. After one month the difficulty raises to Moderate. Caravan's Code: Lyseerans may never stay on a single planet for more than 2 standard years. There's is a race of travellers that choose space over the dirt of worlds and their unclean inhabitants, all of which are normally considered beneath them. When the code is broken the offender is automatically banished from their Caravan and driven out of Lyseeran society. They may never be dealt with or given aid again. Some even take to hunting the Mud Rutters. |

When
the doctors and scientists had finished, the race had been given total
eidetic memory; they would never forget where they came from. This medical
breakthrough was followed by a strict educational system that spread
throughout the Lyseeran colonies. Some might call it indoctrination,
the Lyseerans think of it as coordinated societal education. The group
education of the race gave them an insular feel, shunning the few others
they had met on their travels. Lyseerans would barter and trade, but
not openly accept the concept that a non-lyseeran could understand the
complex culture that had developed out among the colonies. In the fullness of time word was finally received that a new home world had been found for them. During the colonization effort tempers began to spark again, rivalries and arguments over who had the right to settle what regions. Soon skirmishes began to spread among the new settlements. Before the tenth city was founded concussion missiles and meteor guns began to fire. It took a month this time, but the end result was the same, the world that was to have been their new and permanent home was charred beyond use. The death of the second Lyseeran homeworld and the near extinction they all faced again led to teh creation of the Caravan's Code. From that day forward, no Lyseeran would claim a permanent habitation on a world, such a life was now beneath them. Any who spent too much time "rutting in the mud" would be banned from the colonies. Ever since the decree, the Lyseerans have been nomads. They wander the galaxy using it as they please while looking down at all who dwell within its words. |
