They entered some sort of valley or low country. “Four days passed without the ground or the scene changing much” (about 120 miles between Weathertop and the Last Bridge).

They cross the Last Bridge which is the “easternmost on the Great East Road.”* It is also known as the Bridge of Mitheitheil, and it crosses the River Hoarwell.
