I
Walk Alone
I
walk alone at break of day
In fields of mist and dew
The sun peeks up her sleepy head
And skylarks sing anew
The air is cool, the light is shy
The path before me gay
And I will sing for joy of life
To walk at break of day
I
walk at noon amidst the trees
'Neath dappled green and gold
The forest scent of earth and leaf
Its ancient story told
Of hidden glades of branch and bough
The secrets no one sees
And I will sing in quiet peace
And walk amidst the trees
I
walk at dusk beside the stream
In dim and fading light
The waters murmur their own song
To purple clouds of night
The stars shine down, the breeze is low
It whispers of a dream
And I will sing a lullaby
And walk beside the stream
I
walk with friends along the way
Though some I cannot see
And yet I feel them close beside
Their presence comforts me
Tomorrow comes another road
To where I cannot say
But I will sing and walk again
With friends along the way

The battle for our bodies’ Might.

Courageous women of Rohan!
Jaxena,
Bearer of our Thread
Has from the risky paths us led.
From North and South and East and West
She rallies maidens to the Quest.

From Frodo’s door we’re bound to go.
And then through peril, toil and sweat
To Rivendell we are well met!)
Be bold and brave, destroy the cage!
Fair maidens of the Shield unite!
We walk to prove our strength and wage
The battle for our bodies’ Might.
Lead or follow as you can
Courageous women of Rohan!
Ranger Jewel, she charts our path.
From Shire to Wood, she does the math.
Counting the miles to get to Bree,
Then on to Elrond’s House Homely.
Be bold and brave, destroy the cage!
Fair maidens of the Shield unite!
We walk to prove our strength and wage
The battle for our bodies’ Might.
Lead or follow as you can
Courageous women of Rohan!
Bright Kally has picked up the task
To spin the Web that we have asked.

Fair maidens of the Shield unite!
We walk to prove our strength and wage
The battle for our bodies’ Might.
Lead or follow as you can
Courageous women of Rohan!
So Maidens brave, keep true your word
And shoulder bow and sheathe your sword.
Step on the road our leaders choose.
The Charge is thus: for us to lose!

The
Hope of a Woman
Sung loosely to the tune of 'Scarborough
Fair'
(Link to
music.)
The hope of a woman,
who she wants to be.
The hope of a woman,
no cages. Free.
Walking, running,
flying away.
Seizing the moment,
giving the day.
She lives. She laughs.
She drinks. She eats.
She fights the scourge
temptation she meets.
A vision she holds,
her own little star,
guiding her slowly,
to goals afar.
The present her armor,
memory her mail.
Valor is hers.
She cannot fail.
For the sword gives strength,
the shield protection,
as she holds fast
to her dear connections.
Ahead the path,
sometimes steep,
sometimes endless,
her own pace she keeps.
She moves along
the trail of mind
knowing not
what she will find.
Her new place
to feel, to be.
Her new way
herself to see.
Through forests deep,
in fellowship, alone,
she finds her way
to her own home.
She hopes. She feels.
She wants. She knows.
She is. She was.
She will be. She grows.
She walks. She runs.
She fears. She thinks.
She yields. She fights.
She triumphs. She shrinks.
The hope of a woman,
now hail, now farewell.
The hope of a woman,
no secret, no spell.
The hope of a woman,
within does dwell.
The hope of a woman,
the road to Rivendell.

Note: Hope - The translated meaning of Aragorn‘s name Estel,
given to him by his mother Gilraen. To keep the Heir of Isildur secret from
the spies of Sauron, this was the name he used for the first twenty years
of his life. Indeed, he did not know his own ancestry in these early years,
until it was revealed to him by Elrond. "I gave Hope to the Dúnedain,
I have kept no hope for myself." Translated words of Aragorn's mother Gilraen.

Rivendell
Walkin' Blues
Composer's note: this
song didn't start out as a blues song, but the Muse had other
ideas :))
Goin' on a journey,
Leavin' Bag End,
Stepping into danger
With foe and with friend,
Bracin' for adventure
No hobbit should know,
Lingerin' in The Shire
Though I know I must go.
Chorus:
And I walk to Rivendell,
Travellin' through wind and sun,
Gonna carry this One Ring
'Til my quest is done.
Munchin' on apples
And duckin' Black Riders,
Meeting the Wood Elves
And trusting in Strider,
Skimmin' 'cross the Brandywine,
Drinking in Bree,
Battling mosquitoes
And dreamin' of the Sea.
Chorus:
As I walk to Rivendell,
Travellin' through wind and sun,
Gonna carry this One Ring
'Til my quest is done.
Campin' on the roadside
And scaling each hill,
Eatin' second breakfast
And talkin' with Bill,
Fighting on Weathertop,
Goin' for a ride,
Headin' for the Ford
And safe on the other side.
Chorus:
As I walk to Rivendell,
Ramblin' through wind and sun,
Gonna carry this One Ring
'Til my quest is done,
Gonna carry this One Ring
'Til my quest is done

Travel Song
Over
hill and under star
Beneath a misty blanket grey
I strive to travel just as far
As Frodo did in thirty days
With fiery sunlight beating down
Or rainfall splashing into pools
I plan to reach the Elven town

As countless trees sway in the wind
I bid familiar paths farewell
And think with hope on journeys end
A warm welcome in Rivendell

Very Simple Hobbit Song
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began
But neither rain nor wind or storm
Will stop our walk to Rivendell
We walk, we run, we bike as well
In haste to see Fair Folks with bows
For all we dream is Rivendell
The magic place where lead all roads
You'll find among us many kinds:
Maidens Not Appearing on Film and
Weight Watchers, some Tolkien Online,
The One Ring Walkers- all hand in hand.
And even though sometimes we feel
Like sitting down and crying a bit,
We soon stand up with stronger will
And heart that's light despite sore feet
One day the journey will be complete
We will arrive at Rivendell's gates
And sigh with wonder for no hobbit
Untouched by beauty, stays, of this place
We will not enter until the last
Of our company arrives
Where there's no present, future, past
And where we wish to spend our lives
But although Lembas Bread may be
The sweetest thing, the best hearts need
We soon start missing Shire, Bree,
Mushrooms, pipeweed, most of all- beer
And day will come to say
"Oh well At Rivendell great time was spent
But now it's time to bid farewell
And set off back to beloved Bag End.
This song is simple but let it be,
For wiser, time to come is yet
Let's sing together "one, two and three"
And lets's start quest for home meal and bed.

Travelling Song
Sundown,
the shades drawn within this sleepy town
And even the dusken stars have trimmed their fires down,
thankful for the sameness each morning doubtless brings
yet sighing for the day that writes a different tune to
sing
Long has this harbor cradled me within its nets
And in this sturdy home I've built, I've lived in bliss,
and yet
dreams prompt me to wonder what lies past what's safe and
known
and if fullfillment is to be found someplace far from
home...
Is the sky any bluer 'crost the road in the distance
that stretches through the valley far below?
Are the flowers any brighter? Is the grass there truly
greener?
Whatever be the answer, I simply have to know
I gather all my wishes up and hold them in my hand,
Stick them in my pocket and then pack up what I can
I give one last glance at the town where now evening fog
hangs,
where all was safe and all was sure and nothing ever changed.
So now I turn to the unknown, a world in shades of grey.
What do I seek? Should I turn back? How will I find my
way?
I stop, wait for the answer to be dropped into my hand
but am met only with a soft breeze, whispering "You can."
Is the sky any bluer 'crost the road in the distance
that stretches through the valley far below?
Are the flowers any brighter? Is the grass there truly
greener?
Whatever be the answer, I simply have to know
The first step is the hardest of the journey, oft I've
heard
And that done, something greater pushes my meek steps
foreward
Kind's the warmth the sun provides as I travel by day
Beloved, though, the stars who, in the dark, reveal my
way
I've watched the moon play hide-and-seek with me and then
come back
and Providence has cleared the road for me and filled
my pack
Though I know not the end I seek, still step by step I
go
Knowing I will reach it, be my progress quick or slow.
Is the sky any bluer 'crost the road in the distance
that stretches through the valley far below?
Are the flowers any brighter? Is the grass, well, is it
greener?
Whatever be the answer, I simply have to know
Far miles I've travelled now, and may my whispers reach
your ears
and may you step onto this road in spite of any fears
For though I've not found answers that, when I began,
I sought
This journey in itself has found me deep in silent
thought,
and answered questions hearkening to
childhood, long ago,
with answers others told me were impossible to know.
Yet there they lay in nature's peace, waiting to be uncovered,
but I'll keep walking long's I can, for I may yet discover
Is the sky any bluer 'crost the road in the distance
that stretches through the valley far below?
Are the flowers any brighter? Is the grass there truly
greener?
Whatever be the answer, I simply have to know.
I walk on seeking answers my soul tells me I must
know.

The
Road to Rivendell
We're starting out in
Hobbiton
Through sunshine, rain or snow.
We're heading for peaceful Rivendell,
We hope to make it before the show!
It's dangerous business
Going out your front door.
Dodging black riders,
Whom we all abhor.
To us, the maidens of Middle Earth
Eowyn of Rohan is our model.
Beautiful, strong, and brave is she,
Healthy and fit is what we want to be.
We're walking the road to Rivendell,
It'll be a treacherous journey through.
But none of us are ever alone
Hope remains while company is true!

Arrows and Axes, and Hobbits in Dangers,
The Stewards of Gondor… and also the Kings….

Green Dragon singing by Pippin and Merry,
The Council Meeting…. the Three Elven Rings…
These are a few of my favorite things…..

When I’m feeling sad…
I simply think over The Lord of the Rings,
And then I don’t feel….. so… bad…
A

Rivendell Valley…. The “Pony” at Bree,
The Rohan on horses, and Ringwraiths on wings…
These are a few of my favorite things…..
Goblins
and Mithril, the Balrog on fire,
Gollum and Bilbo; and Sauron, the liar,
Howard Shore’s music…. The way Enya sings…
These are a few of my favorite things…

I check our map so I may see,
How many miles lay in front of me?
The roads begun, and the journey set
Fellow Shieldmaidens have been Well Met!
I take a breath and face southeast,
Can you smell the Elven feast?
You’re with me, and I'm with you,
There is nothing we can't do!
The time has come, we cannot fail,
Together we'll walk to Rivendell!

Though legs may ache and bunions gall,
We must keep on to make it hence,

In park and field we walk with haste,
Pedometers strapped to our waist.
Leave couch behind, our shields to gain.
Our friends will cheer us through the pain,
ntil at last the Elves we meet,
And rest our aching, weary feet.
We hike! We bike! We persevere!
We walk until the movie’s here!

Boys
(By
dropping the second line of verses 1,2,3, and 5, and the third
line of verse 4, one could sing this poem to the tune of “Buffalo
Gals!” ;-D. This was not my original intention, but until I
get another tune written, it will have to suffice.)
Oh,
Rivendell I long for thee.
Nestled 'gainst the mountain's knee,
Where grow the ash and linden tree,
And all the Elven boys run free,
The Elven boys run free.
Fair Rivendell, this sheltered place,
Provided by Lord Elrond's grace,
Protects the wise and elder race
Of Elven men so fair of face,
These ones so fair of face.
Wild Rivendell, beyond compare,
Set in the valley long and fair,
It has been said that dwelling there
Are Elven boys with golden hair,
Fair Elves with golden hair.
Of Rivendell it has been told
Great heroes dwell within its hold
With Elven hearts both fierce and bold,
And Elven eyes of green and gold,
Their eyes of green and gold.
When Rivendell I come to thee,
If true indeed these tales do be,
Then I will simply have to see
If there's an Elven swain for me,
And Elven love for me.
(Chorus)
As I was walking down the street
Down the street,
Down the street,
An Elven boy I chanced to meet
By the light of the silvery moon!
Rivendell boys won't ya come out tonight
Come out tonight,
Come out tonight,
Rivendell boys won't ya come out tonight
And dance by the light of the moon.

Rivendell Walking Song
To the tune of "Upon
the Hearth" as heard in the BBC audio production of 'The Lord
of the Rings' (in 13 parts by Brian Sibley).
The parking lot before me lies,
Beneath the gray and gloomy skies.
If I should try to go outside,
The rain will start. I'd like to hide.
But Rivendell is beck'ning me.
I should at least arrive in Bree.
Five hundred miles, more or less,
And I'm committed to my quest.
The treadmill whine is such a bore.
I'd rather stay outside this door.
The fitness bike is black and hard.
I'd sooner garden in my yard.
Still Rivendell before me lies,
And April brings some sunny skies.
First hundred miles, a little hill,
At last I meet Tom Bombadil.
The sun is up, she calls to me,
That there are places I must see.
The Barrow Downs, the inn at Bree,
The thought of postcards heartens me.
But Rivendell is out ahead,
I can't just lie here in my bed.
Strider awaits to lead me on.
We'll seek for Weathertop beyond.
The summer comes. The winter's past.
Three trolls of stone sit by the path.
Companions cheer the lengthy walk.
Bruinen's Ford, where Nazguls stalk
And Rivendell unto me calls
With food and fire and friendly halls.
I'll cross the ford, hear elven song.
With it as guide I can't go wrong.
I'm here at last in Elrond's home,
I thought I'd stay and never roam.
Though Rivendell is what I love
I find my feet still want to move.
The habit's fixed. I need a goal.
The thought of Rohan stirs my soul.
Tomorrow I will get a map.
Today I think I'll grab a nap.

And many things there are she's seen.
