The D&H provided rail service to the National Lead Titanium Mine in Essex county NY, The local symbol for this train was SC-5, This train ran in 2 parts. The first part was from the Sanford lake plant to North Creek, the second part was from North creek to Saratoga yard. Several times during this service the destination yard changed from Saratoga  to Ft Edward or Mechanicville.

The Ore mined in Sanford Lake was shipped to NJ and MO.The plant in NJ was located in Phoenix, NJ. National Lead processed the ore for paint pigment.Here is  link to the plant in New Jersey that processed the Ilmenite. www.raritanriver-rr.com
