Furby.exe Freeware 1999 Darwin Teague dishhead@iquest.com Furby.exe is a program that can be used with a simple interface to record and play back infrared signals with your Furby. It's commands include record, play, load, save, and test. The test command just keeps asking for filenames and automatically plays them. Included here is a simple drawing of the circuit with beginners in mind. To use, first you need a configuration file. It's really simple. 1 32000 The first character selects the printer port - 1 or 2. The second number selects the file size, and is somewhat dependent on the speed of your computer. The faster your computer, the faster it will sample the signal so the larger file you will need to have a signal that lasts for a certain amount of time. Values can be between 12000 and 58000. I use 32000 with my Pentium 120 and it does fine. If you have a faster computer, use a higher number and vice versa. Save the file as furby.cfg. Now how do you actually record and play back signals? It's pretty easy. Hold the recording module in front of your Furby - the infrared stuff is in the window above his eyes. Choose r for record a signal and keep pressing his tummy button until the signal is recorded - you'll know because the main menu screen will come back. Then press p to play it back a few times, the save it with a name that describes what Furby does. Then play it and as he's talking, press r to record a new signal. Furby only sends signals when he gets done talking, but not every time. Anyway, when you get another signal recorded, play it back, save it, play it back again and record another. If you have two Furbys, it's even easier. Just get them going (by pressing the tummy button repeatedly) and record the signals from one or the other as they interact. You can save signals with single character names because you can always load them in later, play them back and save them with a new name. If you want to use your CIR interface to run your cable box, satellite dish, vcr, tv, etc the check out my web page. It's the same program with a different name, but I also have a timer program that lets you automate your television viewing as much or as little as you like. http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/7438/dishhead.html
