cramps? Have you suffered a stroke or a paralyzing accident? ... If so, this
     book is for you!

Have you been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, or neuralgia? Do you struggle
with Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, cerebral palsy, or the effects
of polio? Do you have high blood pressure, a heart condition, cancer or
other progressive illness? ... If so, this book is for you!

Are you discouraged about your health condition? Are you self-conscious
about your body and your limitations? Do you feel cut off from society,
isolated or alone? Do you feel useless? ... If so,
     this book is for you!

Would you like to feel better? Suffer less? Have more energy? Know peace
     of mind? Discern a
renewed sense of meaning and purpose in your life? ... If so, this book is
     for you!

Do you believe in God? Are you a Christian? Would you like tohave a
     greater sense of God's
spirit leading, guiding and directing your life? Would you like to be more
open to Divine healing? Would you like to serve God more faithfully? ... If
so, this book is for you!

But before you read this book, I would like to ask you what you think
makes for health and wholeness in the first place. What combination of
ingredients is necessary for a person to be truly healthful? The doctor will
tell you to take your medicine. And, of course you should. But do you
think that is all there is to it? Would you say that right diet, taking vitamins,
and physical exercise  are important? What about good hygiene?
What about good habits? Things like getting enough sleep, and taking care
of your body?  What about rejecting bad habits like smoking or
drinking or drug abuse? Is that all there is to it? Do you believe that what
people think and feel influences their physical well-being? Does stress have
a negative effect? Do a positive attitude and a positive self-image help?
Does a good sense of humor help? What other things do you think
     contribute to good health?

What about such things as having faith or believing in God? Does prayer
help? Does God really have anything to do with it? What do you think it is
going to take for you to really feel better? If you have been sick long
enough and the doctors cannot really do anything to help you, chances are
that you have already experimented with both traditional and alternative
approaches to healing. You may have tried a wide variety of doctors and
taken a wide variety of drugs. You may have tried alternative approaches
such as taking megavitamins, getting acupuncture treatments, wearing
magic stones or even sleeping on magnets. And, you may have been helped
by doing these things... but, if you are still reading this book I am going to
assume that you have not been completely healed.

You may also have taken religious approaches, such as personal prayer,
     joining a
prayer group, having your name submitted to prayer chains, sending for
prayer cloths, or attending healing services. And, you may have been
helped by some of these approaches... but if you are still reading this book,
I am going to assume that you have not been completely healed.

So again, I want to ask you this question! What do you think it is going to
take for you to cope with and overcome your pain and your disability? ...
This book does not contain disease specific medical research. Nor does it
explore all the alternative approaches to treatment. It does not discuss such
things as diet, vitamin therapy, herbal remedies, acupuncture or any other
Eastern approaches to healing. However, the knowledge, insight and
prescriptions contained in this book should help you to feel better.

The ideas contained in this book are not really new. Neither are they
radical. You may already have had your pastor or even your doctor tell you
that the best way to overcome your problems is to get involved in helping
someone else. Your doctors may have prescribed an exercise program.
They may have referred you to a massage therapist, or prescribed stress
management training or bio-feedback training. If so, such prescriptions
were on the right track. The purpose of this book is to share Daryl's
wisdom, to encourage and motivate you to follow his prescriptions. Not
just one of them, but all of them. I have seen the difference that following
them has made in his life. I believe that you will understand how and why
     these things will help you rise above your pain and your health challenges;
and when you hear about how doing these things has helped other severely
handicapped persons to overcome their problems, you will be motivated to
     try them yourself.
