Turning Over A New Leaf
To be, or not to be, that is the question.
William Shakespeare, Hamlet
It's almost New Year's Eve. Have you made your New Year's Resolutions? Many people believe that the ritual of making resolutions is pointless - ridiculous. I do not share their opinion.
Are you satisfied with the way you are living - the way you are feeling? If not, there are many things you can do to help yourself feel better. Maybe giving up bad habits, or losing weight will help you to feel better. In my seminars, I teach the four M's to overcoming chronic pain and physical disabilities. They include: pursuing your Mission, adopting a regular program of stretching and strengthening your Muscles, getting regular Massage therapy treatments, and learning the art of healing Meditation. However, improving your well-being in these ways requires self-discipline.
There is more to Shakespeare question, "To be, or not to be" than just a decision to either live or to commit suicide and die. There are many shades and degrees of being alive. The ultimate question is, "What is the quality of my being in the world?" You may not be able to change your age, your deafness, blindness, or your medical condition. But given such limitations, there is much you can do to determine the quality and character of your being in this world. The turning of the year gives you the opportunity to make decisions, set goals and commit yourself to rising above your circumstances. Why not take the opportunity to turn over a new leaf? Why not get serious and ask God to help you keep your resolution? Look to your higher power every morning and every night until you become addicted to doing what is required. The result will speak for itself. You can feel better!
