2006 SRF Pictures and video

Below is Part 1 and Part 2 of a video I put together from my 2006 season. It's mostly in car video set to music with some photos and trackside video shot by my wife and friends.

I bought this car in June of 2006, but had to wait for the next available drivers school, in Sept. of 2006 to get my Novice license renewed.

I completed the drivers school and three races at the end of the 2006 season. The first race included a downpour (see photos) which made things challenging as I was on slick dry weather tires. A wheel had also fallen off at the begging of practice so I missed qualifying and had to start dead last, but I finished 2nd out of three in class. Several competitors, and especially Neil Rogers went out of their way to get the car back together in time to race, and I really appreciate them.

The next race was at the extremely tricky Autobauhn Country Clubs South circuit, and I had tire pressures much too low and finished a dismal 7th.

The last race was the 100 mile "Loooong Race" at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, where I was very pleased to finish 3rd in class against some strong competition. I should be able to be much more competitive in 2007.

By the end of the Loooong race I felt really comfortable with the car and hopefully have most of the bugs sorted out. In that first short season, a wheel had fallen off, a CVT joint had broken, and some electrical and other misc. gremlins had been dealt with. Now the car has been given some proffessional maintanence by Elite Motorsport, and I'm giving it some body repair and a nice new paint job for 2007. Looking at the videos, I see where I can be quite a bit faster.

The looong race was very special as I had great freinds on hand to crew and be prepared in case of a fuel stop . From left to right are Mike Covey, Joel Klein, My wife Jeannine, and Jeff Duncan. This is a photo I really treasure.

I have a video camera mounted in the car which is great fun as well as usefull as a learning tool. A 15 minute "music" video of the 2006 season highlights is available on DVD to bore my friends. Next year I plan to similarly document the whole 2007season with video.
