Through this website, we would like to tell you about the Haitian Clubfoot Project. The purpose of the HCP is to treat and cure clubfoot deformity in Haitian infants less than 2 years old with the Ponseti method of non-surgical clubfoot treatment. What is the Ponseti method you ask? It is a treatment that is just short of being a miracle cure for some of the 300 to 700 children born annually in Haiti with clubfoot.

 Due to a limited number of surgeons and facilities in developing countries, the majority of these cases are either neglected or inadequately treated. The effect of the neglected or recurrent clubfoot on quality of life is severe in developing countries. Through the HCP, not only does Dr. DeHeer travel to Haiti to perform the procedure on these children, while there, he trains Doctors, so they too can cure clubfoot.
