Common Q & A’s about

 Insight Project USA

When does this project begin?

Any project created and implemented by the Leadership team during the 2004-2005 year may be submitted.

How do we keep track of what we do and how often do we report?

This year we are asking that students complete and submit the Insight Project USA Report Form at the end of an activity or event.  If the students have chosen to do something which lasts over the entire 4-5 months of the activity, it would probably be helpful for them to break it down into smaller components and report on those as they are completed.

What do the reports include?

A copy of the report is attached.  It lists many of the different skills required to be a good leader and asks that students address how they used these skills throughout an activity or event, from its conception to its conclusion.

How do we get the reports to Insight?

Please mail the original reports to Kay Zoretic, 1909 Lyda Avenue, Bowling Green, KY  42104.  The originals will make reading the reports easier for the judges.  Be certain to keep a copy for your files.  Please have students fill out the reports in ink.

How often should we send the reports?

Reports should be sent when an event or activity is completed and has been reviewed and evaluated by the student leadership team.

Can the teacher or sponsor fill out the report?

No.  The report should be filled out by a member of the leadership team, working in a group setting so as to get input from several students.  Teacher input should be minimal.  The purpose of Insight Project USA is to provide leadership skills for students and paperwork is often a responsibility of a leader.  The reporting can be shared by different leadership team members throughout the term of Insight Project USA.

Is there a limit to the number of students who can be members of Insight Project USA?

Many schools have a large number of students who have been identified as having leadership potential.  However, Insight would suggest that the older students be the main force of Insight Project USA and the younger students serve as “junior members” learning how to carry on the project during succeeding years.  Because of financial and time constraints, the Insight Project USA Team should be limited to 10 members.   All your leadership students can participate during the time of the project and the ten “official representatives” can be determined closer to the end of the time frame as your students demonstrate their ability and interest in leadership.  The final determination of the ten “Insight Project USA team members” and how to choose them are at the discretion of the sponsor.  All participants will be recognized at the award ceremony.

What is the award ceremony?

Participants will be recognized for their successes by Insight and our community leaders.   Prize money, trophies, and certificates will be awarded.  This event will be televised on Insight.  The date, time and place will be communicated at a later date.

Will there be category awards again this year?

Insight Communications will be making awards in several different categories.

This year, categories will reflect the idea of volunteerism, the main emphasis of the LEADERSHIP of the teams.  Categories being considered are:

Best environmental activity or event

Most public spirited activity or event

Best beautification activity or event

Most patriotic activity or event

Best humanitarian activity or event

Best civic minded activity or event

Overall Best Volunteerism Activity or Event

Please email Kay at kzoretic@insightbb.com with any additional questions.  She will compile an addendum to this FAQ and send it to all participating schools.
