The Third Book of Moses, Called Leviticus, Chapter Three <>< <>< ><> ><> 1. What is someone to present before the LORD if their offering is a fellowship offering and he offers an animal from the herd, whether male or female, what is he to do at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, what is Aaron's sons, the priests, to do then, what is he to bring from the fellowship offering, what all is he to bring, and what is Aaron's sons to do with it then?
________________________________________________________________________________ In the phrase "fellowship offering," the word translated "fellowship" includes the ideas of health, wholeness, welfare, and peace. It is reflected in the common Jewish greeting "Shalom!" This offering apparently symbolizes peace with God because the worshiper joins in the sacred meal. The fellowship offering was brought to the priest, the worshiper laid his hand on the head of the animal in symbolic identification and transfer of guilt, then the priest dressed it, handling the blood in the same way as was done for the burnt offering. 2. What is the offering to be if he offers an animal from the flock as a fellowship offering to the LORD, what is he to do if he offers a lamb, what is he to do in front of the Tent of Meeting, what will Aaron's sons do then, what is he to bring from the fellowship offering to the LORD by fire, and what shall the priests do then?
________________________________________________________________________________ In this case, however, only the fat and kidneys were burned on the altar. Elsewhere it is specified that the priest is to be given the right breast and the right thigh as his portion. <>< <>< ><> ><>
<>< <>< ><> ><> The balance was for the worshiper and his family to eat. 3. What is he to do if the offering is a goat, what is he to do in front of the Tent of Meeting, what is Aaron's sons to do then, what is his offering to the L ORD by fire, what shall the priests do, what is the LORD's, what is this, and what must they never do, no matter where they lived?
________________________________________________________________________________ A fellowship offering could be voluntary as a special offering of thanks to God or could be given as the result of a vow or as a freewill offering. <>< <>< ><> ><> ORD; it belongs to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the fellowship offerings. (15)The meat of his fellowship offering of thanksgiving must be eaten on the day it is offered; he must leave none of it till morning. (16)" 'If, however, his offering is the result of a vow or is a freewill offering, the sacrifice shall be eaten on the day he offers it, but anything left over may be eaten on the next day. (17)Any meat of the sacrifice left over till the third day must be burned up. (18)If any meat of the fellowship offering is eaten on the third day, it will not be accepted. It will not be credited to the one who offered it, for it is impure; the person who eats any of it will be held responsible. (19)" 'Meat that touches anything ceremonially unclean must not be eaten; it must be burned up. As for other meat, anyone ceremonially clean may eat it. (20)But if anyone who is unclean eats any meat of the fellowship offering belonging to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people. (21)If anyone touches something unclean - whether human uncleanness or an unclean animal or any unclean, detestable thing - and then eats any of the meat of the fellowship offering belonging to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people.' " (22)The LORD said to Moses, (23)"Say to the Israelites: 'Do not eat any of the fat of cattle, sheep or goats. (24)The fat of an animal found dead or torn by wild animals may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it. (25)Anyone who eats the fat of an animal from which an offering by fire may be made to the LORD must be cut off from his people. (26)And wherever you live, you must not eat the blood of any bird or animal. <>< <>< ><> ><> This offering was given by the thousands at special celebrations when many people joined in the sacred meal. <>< <>< ><> ><> ORD: twenty-two thousand cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the Israelites dedicated the temple of the LORD. <>< <>< ><> ><> If a man was too poor to bring a voluntary fellowship offering, he would probably be given a share in the offerings of others. Neither fat nor blood was to be eaten. <>< <>< ><> ><>
<>< <>< ><> ><> It generally is not realized that eating the fat was also prohibited (see 7:22-25). It was the special part of the animal that was offered to the Lord and was therefore sacred.
<>< <>< ><> ><> 1. An animal without
defect...he is to lay his hand on the head of his offering and slaughter
it...they shall sprinkle the blood against the altar on all sides...a sacrifice
made to the LORD
by fire...the fat that covers the inner parts or is connected to them, both
kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the covering of the liver,
which he will remove with the kidneys...they are to burn it on the altar on top
of the burnt offering that is on the burning wood, as an offering made by fire,
an aroma pleasing to the LORD
