My Newest Passion...
I have just completed my first session of horseback riding lessons and loved every minute of it. Much to mom and dad's enjoyment, I was not scared at all to ride the horses. My horse's name is Lady. During my first five lessons, I learned how to mount the horse, where and how to hold the reins (thumbs up), how to tell the horse to "walk-on" (two pats on her neck), how to steer the horse right and left, and how to tell the horse to "whoa". I also learned very quickly what two-point means. When they tell me to do two-point, I reach forward and lift myself out of the saddle using my legs. I use this position when the horse is walking over poles on the ground. I also became vocal during the first lesson by pulling back on my reins and saying "mmmmmm" to stand for "whoa". Mom was really happy to see that. Since then, I have started to use two-syllable sounds a lot. For example, I will verbalize "mmm-mmmm" for "El-mo" and other words like that. Mom thinks the horses really helped my voice come forward.

The pictures on this page are from the horse show that we kids put on for friends and family at the end of the summer. We had a lot of fun showcasing all that we had learned from the summer. I earned a blue ribbon for two-point and for steering. Everyone was proud of me and I had a really good time. We have three weeks off before the next session starts, so I hope to remember everything I learned in the meantime.
