The short and bloody history of knights, spies, and pirates. John Farman. Barnes and Noble Books. 2003.

Book review by Tracey
I found this book in the sale items at my local (25 miles away) Barnes & Noble. It looked interesting so I thought I’d give it a try. I found it very entertaining. It was full of information about these three professions, including, but not limited to: what they are about, famous examples, and trivia pertaining to. I was not familiar with this author, but he has apparently written several children’s books. He was very amusing in his writing style. I could see that he would be very good at holding children’s attention. There were a lot of cartoon illustrations that were also created by the author, so the visual was also a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this book to children age 10 or so and up, especially 42 year olds like myself. A light read, yet every page saturated with facts and commentary on the subjects mentioned.

Tracey.
