| The Road (Oprah's Book Club) Book review by Jane I found the boy to be a stabilizing factor for the father, who knew more of what was the world before this. The world had been that way for years, and they were still plodding along. It is a book for people who like science fiction, but do not care very much for the beginning and the ending. Although, I would not reveal the ending here. I started reading the book a second time, which made the story make more sense in the beginning. It just starts out as if they were starting another day, just like the day before, and continues from there. The book would be great for a discussion book club. The discussion could reveal many tangents of the book. I wouldn't want to reveal how I think a discussion could go for this book, because I think it would be telling too much of the story. You will just have to try the book, and if you get the chance, join a discussion group. Let us know how the discussion goes. Jane.
