Book review by Jane
Rourke, who has written a review for Book Reader’s Traverse and
is a former roommate of Joel’s, recommended this book to me. This
book helps greatly with the emotional side of eating. There is quite a
bit of advice on how to condition yourself in such a way that the food
you eat is not as important as the attitude you take, or getting yourself
to rethink how you feel about things. There is good advice on Ayurveda,
the Indian school of ancient medicine, as well. It is interesting to see
how there are different characteristics within a person that should be
considered when medicating someone, not only the characteristics of the
medicines. The Ayurveda categorizes these body type characteristics and
considers them when dealing with health problems, including obesity and
overweight. Anyway, it was an interesting read, which comes across as
common sense when it comes to diet and exercise, based on the body type
of the person. Also, it uses common sense when talking about how to eat
fresh, cooked foods that taste good. I liked the quizzes that tell you
what type of body you have, and the Yoga exercise that is included.
