Meet Janet

Our guest reviewer for this month is a baker, both professionally and at home, who likes to have a little fun with the process as is evident by her picture. Janet is a former member of the disbanded book club and was responsible for such selections as Cosmos by Carl Sagan. She is particularly fond of non-fiction, especially science books of all sorts. She also has a dream of one day spending some time in Alaska. These interests are what guided her to read the book, which was originally selected by Joel, The Northern Lights by Lucy Jago. You may send any comments to .

The Northern Lights. Lucy Jago. Alfred A. Knopf. New York, New York. 2001.

Book Review by Janet
The Northern Lights is about a professor at Norway University, Kristian Birkeland, who solves the mysteries of the Northern Lights. The book tells of his experiments, how he funded his research through his inventions, how his work affected his health and mental health. I thought the book was fairly good. Couldn’t help but feel sorry for him, but admired his persistence.

Janet.
