Miss Julia Stands Her Ground . Ann B. Ross. Viking Penguin. New
York, New York. 2006.
Book Review by Jane
Miss Julia is one of the most pleasant characters I have ever met in a
book. She is somewhat haughty but in a sincere way. So if she says she
doesn’t like something, she doesn’t. But she also has a tender
spot for some people in her life. She is a widow, but you must read the
books to find out whether she remarries. Miss Julia is full of southern
charm as well. She finds her voice after many years of doing everything
her husband wanted.
Miss
Julia Stands Her Ground
continues the story of Miss Julia and Hazel Marie, her newfound friend
who was also her deceased husband’s mistress. These books are laugh
out loud funny. Although usually not their own doing, the predicaments
which Miss Julia and Hazel Marie get into are incredible.
This is a series of books. I felt that Miss
Julia Stands Her Ground
could stand alone, but this series is an enjoyable read and really
goes together. You could just read this book. But if you haven’t
read Miss
Julia Speaks Her Mind ,
the first book, then Miss
Julia Takes Over ,
then Miss
Julia Throws a Wedding ,
then Miss
Julia Hits the Road ,
then Miss
Julia Meets Her Match ,
then Miss
Julia’s School of Beauty ,
you’re missing out. I suggest you start out with Miss
Julia Speaks Her Mind .
You will easily get through the books because they demand to be read.
