The Lovely Bones: Deluxe Edition Alice Sebold.  2002.  Little, Brown, and Company.  Boston, New York, London.

Review by Jane
Some have claimed this book will be a classic.  It starts off with the murder of a young girl.  Then, the main story takes place with her looking down from heaven.  While there is opportunity for searching the reasons for child murder, this book is not so much thought provoking as it is emotion provoking.  The reader is made fully aware of what this girl misses out on because of her premature death.

This book displays what would be considered an unconventional view of what heaven is like.  However, it would be harder to dispute the way the book captures the emotions of the family.

While most of the story seems natural enough, despite its strange premises, spots in the story seem to be left hanging; where almost too much is happening at once to make very much sense.  However, most everything ties together in the end.

Tracey of Book Reader's Traverse suggested this book.

Jane.
