The Lady and the Unicorn. Tracy Chevalier. Dutton. New York, New York. 2004.

Book Review by Tracey
Once again Ms. Chevalier has created a Historical tale overflowing with details from the time period. The account is given through the words of several characters, adding dimension to the story. Nicolas Des Innocents, a painter, is the main character, but the other characters he interacts with tell parts of the story from their own point of view.
We get to know all the characters well, and can sympathize with their own personal dilemmas within the story.

The book is about a specific time period in Nicolas' life. It explores the social attitudes of the times through the eyes of wealthy and poor, male and female. A timeless tale revolving around the commission and creation of a set of tapestries. It's definitely worth reading. Here's to good historical fiction!
